Polycrystalline diamond provide the hardness, abrasion resistance and thermal conductivity of diamond, combined with the toughness of tungsten carbide. The tool life of a PCD  cutting edge is usually 50 to 250 times greater than that obtained with conventional cemented carbide cutting tools.
